The landscape of our area presents unique challenges at every hole, and most NC golf courses in our area also give players 360 degree views of the surrounding ridges. Golf is one of the most popular recreational activities in the area, and there are many excellent courses in and around Spruce Pine. One of the courses in Spruce Pine is the Grassy Creek Golf and Country Club. Both beginners and experts can find a challenge here, and the surrounding, picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains make the course a joy to play. The course is 18 holes, semi-private, and features some of the most beautiful and painstakingly maintained fairways and greens you’ll find in the mountains. The course is 6,277 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72.

Only a short drive from Spruce Pine in Burnsville NC you’ll find the Mt. Mitchell Golf Club. This course received a 4½ star rating from Golf Digest’s “Places to Play”, and was also ranked in the top ten courses in the state by North Carolina Magazine. The course features gentle, rolling terrain, a beautiful river flowing through it, and amazing vistas on every hole. The course if very player friendly with no blind shots and bent grass tees, greens, and fairways, not to mention some truly gorgeous scenery. Mt. Mitchell is definitely a favorite, as few courses can rival the beauty of its scenery.

About 13 miles from Spruce Pine in Newland NC is the Mountain Glen course at the Mountain Glen Golf Club. The course has 6,723 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course has been open since 1963, and is an excellent choice for those that are new to the game, as well as more experienced players.
