From Interstate 40:
Take exit 86 to Marion. Go north on Hwy. 226 (not 226A) to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Go north on the Blue Ridge Parkway approximately 6 miles until you see a gate at mile marker 324.8. Turn right on Bear Den Mountain Road and follow it until you reach the check in office. Please ask for directions specifically to the cabin once you check in.

From the Blue Ridge Parkway:

Traveling North:
From Hwy. 226 it is six miles to mile post 324.8. Turn right onto Bear Den Mountain Road just before the gate.

Traveling South:
From Hwy. 221 it is 5.3 miles to Bear Den Outlook (milepost 323). You will travel another 1.8 miles to Bear Den Mountain Road milepost 324.8. Turn left onto Bear Den Mountain Road just after the gate.

Please Note: Most of the online mapping sites including Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, MSN Maps, and Mapquest show the incorrect location for 600 Bear Den Mountain Rd, Spruce Pine, NC. So, please make sure to follow the directions on this page to get to the Bear Den reservation office.

Please be aware that the gate we speak of above sometimes closes in the winter. Before your visit, please check this link http://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/roadclosures.htm to find the latest updates on Blue Ridge Parkway detours and closings.

Please note: There is NO commercial sign at the entrance off of the parkway! This is due to the Parkway national regulations. There are NO commercial signs allowed on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Just make sure to follow the above directions and look for the gate at milepost 324.8. There is a brown wooden post at the entrance that reads, "BEAR DEN MOUNTAIN ROAD".
